TAGBILARAN CITY, April 6, (PIA)—The Department of Foreign Affairs’ (FDA) Foreign Service Institute completed a series of trainings to liaison officers of 30 professionals and 50 student volunteers, as Bohol lays the final preparations of hosting the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) here.

The FSI; a research service and training arm of the days of the FDA held a two day training for the volunteers who would render host liaison officer and support services to the ASEAN ministers and senior officials meetings which would be held at the Hennan Resort in Panglao from April 18-21.

Retired Ambassadors from the FSI handled the training module which included Protocols and Liaison Officers Roles and Functions, Conference Management Services, Image Development and Effective Communication.

Earlier, Bohol Special Events Unit head Liza Flores underscored the need for trained liaison officers for the ASEAN meetings just as Governor Edgar Chatto said Bohol would unroll the red carpet to give the ASEAN delegates a lasting and memorable visit to Bohol.

The training is a part of the ASEAN 2017 Skills Enhancement Training Program for Personnel and Volunteers of the LGU, FSI sources said.
