PSA holds civil registry slogan,
essay writing for city students

TAGBILARAN CITY, February 23 (PIA)--Start them right. 

Still coping with the desire to attain an default registration of births, marriages and deaths mentality among its people, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Bohol brings its advocacy to young students in Tagbilaran City where most of the large birthing centers are located.

Along this line, the PSA brings slogan writing and essay writing competitions to junior and senior high school students of Tagbilaran City on Monday, February 27, knowing these kids, when properly informed, becomes their advocates when they get to age.

Set to happen at the 2nd floor of Galeria Luisa along Gallares St., here in Tagbilaran City, the student's slogan and essay writing contests start from 1:00 PM onwards.

The contests are open to all private and public schools in the city, shared PSA Bohol information officer Emmanuel Galab.

Part of the celebration of the Civil Registration Month this February is to raise awareness in the importance of civil registration, we are inviting students from all the high schools in Tagbilaran City to participate in our slogan and Essay Writing Competition on February 27, writes Bohol PSA Provincial Statistician Jessamyne Anne Alcazaren in the office invitation to high schools.


Open to all junior and senior high school students of private and public high schools in Tagbilaran, the contests allow only one contestant from each high school for both essay and slogan writing, the contest mechanics state.

Slogan writing would be held before the essay writing, each contestant allowed two slogans, each of a maximum of 15 words, all entries original and not previously published, all entries pre-numbered, so no identifying marks would appear in each contestant's paper.

The slogans must express the global advocacy of getting everyone registered and promoting awareness on the importance of civil registration in the lives of every Filipino.


For the essay writing, interested participants pre-register at 501-0996 to Xina, Tonette or Emmanuel by stating complete names, contact numbers be they landline or mobiles, email address, complete residential address, name of school, current year (grade) and school address.

The contest organizers provide the papers for the contest but participants must provide their writing implements like ballpens or pencils.

The written essay must illustrate, interpret and emphasize the theme: Pilipinong Rehistrado, Matatag na Kinabukasan ay Segurado," using English, in no less than 500 and no more than 2,000 words, the contest mechanics state.

Criteria for the contests include creativity, originality, positive message, clearness of understanding and how well the entry relates to the topic. (rac/PIA-7/Bohol)
