LMP Piezas inducts AUDIO
2017 information officers
TAGBILARAN CITY, December 10, (PIA)—The president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Bohol Chapter officiated the induction rites of the newly elected officers of the Association of United Development Information Officers (AUDIO) in Bohol.
In fitting ceremonies at the Jjs Seafoods Village December 8, Clarin Mayor and LMP President Allen Ray Piezas emphasized the need for accurate and timely information as key element in a democratic society.
Piezas, whose mother also incidentally was among the older members of the AUDIO in her capacity as information officer, reminded everyone during the organization’s year-end assessment and evaluation, Election of Officers and Christmas Party that in this times of information easily accessible from the social media, how accurate and timely information can help people arrive at smarter decisions.
Elected as new set of officers and sworn into office are Nicolas Sendrijas (LGU Calape for President, while elected as vice presidents are Ma. Lydia Bantugan of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) VP for NGAs and Fiel Angeli Araoarao-Gabin (Tagbilaran City) Vice President for LGUs.
Also sworn into office were Bernarda Villarojo (Bohol Island State University) as Secretary; Elvie Bongosia (Philippine Information Agency) as Assistant Secretary.
Bureau of Treasury’s (BOT) Hermelina Bulasa was elected treasurer and Jojeline Ruiz (Trinidad) was Assistant Treasurer, while Ma. Elena Maniwang (Balilihan) was sworn as Auditor.
Bruce Eric Zabala of Bohol District Jail (BDJ) got the Press Relations Officer post for 1st District; Ellen Marie Buno (Talibon) as PRO for 2nd District; and Amiela Balaba (Jagna) was 3rd District’s PRO.
As good news for the AUDIO members during the activity, Mayor Piezas relayed an ongoing LMP advocacy in the setting up of another tranche for the Bohol Earthquake Assistance 2.
In a Cebu year-end workshop with the department of Interior and Local Government through Director Rene Burdeos, Piezas relayed to the government one of Bohol local official’s major concerns.
The earthquake of 2013 has damaged so much of Bohol’s set up infrastructure that several towns still need the government’s fresh funds infusion to keep up the rehabilitation works started by BEA 1.
While it is still up to the national government to act on the request for BEA 2 funds, Mayor Piezas relayed that Senator Panfilo Lacson has filed for a billion peso fund for Bohol’s BEA 2.
At least there is a slight hope that we can look forward to something, Piezas said. (rac/PIA-7/Bohol)
