No work on Friday in observance of 162nd Bohol Day

TAGBILARAN CITY, July 20 (PIA)--The province of Bohol will be celebrating its 162nd Foundation Day on July 22, Friday.

Under Republic Act No. 7683, every 22nd day of the month of July is declared as Bohol Day, a non-working special public holiday all over the province of Bohol, including the City of Tagbilaran, in commemoration of the province’s founding day.

With the theme: “A Celebration of Bohol Cultural Identity and Creative Talent,” the celebration will kick off with a Thanksgiving Mass at 7:15 in the morning at St. Joseph Cathedral.

A commemorative program will follow at the Bohol Cultural Center, this city.

Atty. Julito Vitorillo, Executive Director of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is invited as guest speaker.

The Tigum Bol-anon Tibuok Pilipinas (TBTP) will also be launch on this day.

Governor Edgar Chatto will also be conferring the Governor’s Award to Engr. Arnold Labunog, Dr. Wilson Du and Engr. Fortunato Lim for Business, Mr. Rainerio Balbin for Music and Mr. Paul Jumamil for Sports during the program.

In the afternoon, the Sandugo Festival Street Dancing 2016 will be done which will showcase a homage to uniquely Boholano.

This year’s theme is “Kuradang,” a local dance identified with Boholano culture. 

Carmen Gatal, head of the street dancing or Kuradang Dance Competition said that this year’s street dancing is different from the past since it centralizes on Boholano culture, particularly the Kuradang dance. (ecb/PIA7-Bohol)
