Capitol adds projects to
winning Lupons’ awards

TAGBILARAN CITY, June 25, (PIA) –Governor Edgar Chatto dished out P100,000 worth of projects for Capitol, to two Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa and another P50,000 of projects to the four runners up as Bohol and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) recognized the winners in simple ceremonies June 24. 

The move is to further motivate the Boholano barangay mediation and out-of-court arbitration teams into enhancing the katarungang pambarangay objectives, according to DILG local government operations officer Josie Montes.

During the ceremonies imbedded in the monthly Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) Meeting Friday, no less that Gov. Chatto along with local government officials and the DILG also handed out trophies and cash awards to the winning councils.

At the ceremonies inserted at the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) Meeting Friday, June 24, DILG’s Josie Montes said a Provincial Awards Committee assessed and validated the nominees from February 16-26 to pick out the teams with the outstanding performance.

No less than Governor Edgar Chatto, PPOC Chairman and local officials handed in plaques of recognition and cash awards to the two outstanding winners in their respective categories and four runners up.

For first to 3rd class municipalities, winning as Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa is of Can-opao Jagna and claiming the award was Punong Barangay Edsel Tutor along with the LT and MLGOO Judy Grace Dominguez.

Can-opao, having won the provincial award also won the regional LTI Awardee and consequently was declared finalist for the national level of competitions, according to Montes.

Also declared winner as Outstanding LT for the 4th to 5th class municipalities is LT of Bingag Dauis with Punong Barangay Violeta Dano and her team claiming the award with MLGOO Sharon Halasan.
For the runners up, in the 1st to 3rd class towns, second runner up is LT of Macaas Tubigon under PB Perfecto Notarte Jr, who was accompanied by MLGOO Jogepons Ruloma in claiming the awards, while first runner up is LT of Poblacion Talibon under PB Expedito Abuan claiming award with MLGOO Maura Justol.

In the 4th to 5th class municipalities, second runner up is LT of Buenavista Loboc under PB Francis Tulang who, with his team and MLGOO Sofronia Abing Jr., claimed their awards.

On the other hand, first runner up for the category went to LT Poblacion Centro Clarin under PB Aristedes Gallardo Jr., who with his team claimed the awards with MLGOO Sharon Halasan.

Enthused by the performance, the governor ordered the winning LTs to submit project proposals for the P100,000 or P50,000 Capitol project grants  on top of the cash and plaques. (rac/PIA-7/Bohol)
