TAGBILARAN CITY, May 20, (PIA) – Congressional representative Rene Relampagos earned the biggest lead from among the local top positions against their nearest opposition while former senor Board Member Dionisio Balite unseated the incumbent vice governor via a win that could be slimmest for top officials contest here.
In for a fresh mandate in his third term, Congressman-elect Rene Relampagos enjoys the biggest landslide victory among the three congressional posts in Bohol by capturing an astounding 79.74 % of the votes from 15 towns’ 224, 025 ballots cast.
Meanwhile, for the vice gubernatorial seat, Dionisio Balite (PDP Laban) unseated incumbent Concepcion Lim (LP) via 21, 075 votes.
Balite earned 51.97 % of the votes while Lim managed to get 48.02%, according to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Certificate of canvass.
Balite reaped 277, 199 votes as against his known political nemesis and town mate Lim who managed to pick only 256, 124 votes.
Earlier, at the Holy Name University based Bohol Polls, Balite only earned 40% while Lim was an early choice with 60%.
On the other hand, Relampagos (Liberal Party), into his third term in Congress, trounced contenders Joahna Cabalit Initay (United Nationalist Alliance) who only managed 15.08% of the vote pie while another congressional aspirant of Bohol’s first district’s 15 towns, Chris Phillips Alturas (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan) safe kept 5.17 % of the 224, 025 votes cast.
Earlier, at the pre-election round of surveys in Bohol’s First District, Bohol Poll predicted a Relampagos win with 88% of the votes, while both Initay and Alturas scored 6% each.
On the other hand, Congressman elect Erico Aristotle Aumentado enjoys the second biggest landslide win in the May 9, 2016 elections capping in a 72.94 percent of the votes from 221,157 voters turning out for polling that day.
Garnering 134, 537 votes, Aumentado who run under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) trounced contender and Board Member Gerardo Garcia of the National Unity Party (NUP) who only managed to capture 27.05% of the voting percentage from the district’s 14 towns to keep his second term seat.
At the Bohol Polls which ran from April 10, 18-May 2, Aumentado also earned 81% as against Garcia’s 19%.
In Bohol’s third congressional district, Congressman elect Arthur Yap (NPC) managed to get past his challenger Conchita delos Reyes (PDP-Laban) for the former’s final term for representative in the district with 19 towns.
Yap slipped past delos Reyes when he garnered 57.25% of the District’s votes which also relegated to the contender, former Carmen mayor de los Reyes a 42.74%. notably the slimmest margin of votes in the local congressional race.
In the Bohol Poll pre-election round of surveys, both Yap and delos Reyes were in a statistical tie with Yap at 52% and Reyes getting 48%.
The survey had a margin of error of +/-10.
For governor, Edgar Chatto won big with 58.36% of the 682, 608 votes cast. This amounts to 330, 751 votes according to Commission on Elections Certificate of Canvass.
Contenders Rosemarie Imboy (PDP Laban) managed to earn 39.31% or 222,222 votes while far next contender Wenceslao Garcia (Ind) picked 9917 votes comprising 1.74% of the voting total.
This too as Bohol Poll predicted a win for Chatto at 79%, while Imboy had a voting preference of 18%. (rac/PIA-7/Bohol)
