Bohol picks 4 of 5 TOBOY 
Awards from DILG 2016

CORTES, Bohol December 20, (PIA) – Boholanos picked four of five regional awards as the regional search for The Outstanding Barangay Officials of the Year (TOBOY) ended with an awarding ceremony last week in Lahug, Cebu City.

All provincial winners and Bohol representative candidates to the regional winners picked the regional best Barangay Treasurer, best Barangay Secretary, best Barangay Kagawad and brought home the best Lupong Tagapamayapa in two of three categories, during the recent awarding ceremonies.

Salvador Cortes barangay treasurer Maria Marvie R. Chiu, Balili Jagna Barangay Secretary Helencita Galbo, Canmanino Valencia Barangay Kagawad Algerica Coronel and Lupong Tagapamayapa of East Poblacion Alburquerque and Can-upao Jagna picked the regional top posts, according to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

All these entries have been winners in their own right, when the DILG conducted a provincial search in 2015.

Only Bohol’s entry to the Barangay Chairman did not come home with an award.

The TOBOY is an annual search for the best performing barangay frontiners, them being the epitomes of the front liners government of service delivery personified.

Started in Bohol and is now adopted by the DILG, TOBOY attempts to motivate more and more people to do their best and popularize local government service in their positions in the barangays.

Also winning as best Barangay Treasurer in the regional search for Component Cities is Cynthia C. Pañares of Poblacion, City of Naga, Cebu.

For barangay secretaries, while Bohol picked the provincial category, Clarita M. Mayol of Cambaro, Mandaue City picked the award for component cities category.

For the barangay kagawads, other than the Bohol winner in the November 4 awarding, the treasurer from the Component City is Edwin Enerlan of Bulacao, City of Talisay, Cebu while for Highly Urbanized Centers, Arvin Field Abing of Maribago, Lapulapu City took home the award.

For the Lupong Tagapamayapa, Bohol's provincial category, winners for the 4th-6th class towns also took home the award as East Poblacion Alburquerque, while the 1st to third class towns went to Can-upao Jagna. (rac/PIA-7/Bohol)
