BANGON brings enhanced
DRRM system forum here

TAGBILARAN CITY, December 11 (PIA)--The country's disaster preparedness flopped because disaster and risk management failed to seep in the grassroots, and Bohol Alliance of Non-Government Organizations (BANGON) is now committed to keep that from recurring.

"Disaster and risk management is everybody's concern," insists BANGON Board of Trustees Emilia Roslinda, but public awareness on the current developments in disaster and risk reduction management still lags.

With this, in partnership with Central Visayas Network of NGOS, bring a forum on a House Bill which seeks to enhance inclusiveness of the Philippine Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management System

A product of a series of consultations and Civil Society Organizations led by CODE NGO and other lobby groups funded by SURGE -Christian Aid, the proposed bill aims to spread the breadth of the national disaster and risk reduction management system to include communities which often are the most directly affected by a snag in the system.

In Bohol, BANGON said the forum is set at Sayas Restaurant on December 15 from 11:00 to 5:00PM.

During the forum, organizers said they also intend to highlight the initiatives of local CSOs and LGUs in addressing the needs of the community affected by past disasters.

It also aims to conduct public awareness on the house bill as well as to generate support to the policy makers who need all the support they can to get the bill through.

By the end of the Forum, Bangon expects a statement of support for the house bill after all its salient points of its provisions are presented. (rac/pia-7/Bohol)
