PNoy’s nephew leads Pinoy Youth LeadCon today

TAGBILARAN CITY, Aug. 20 (PIA)--Francis Joseph “Kiko” Dee will lead guests and celebrities in today’s opening of the Pinoy Youth Leader’s Convention (LeadCon) national kick-off event at the President Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Kiko is the son of Richard Joseph “Dodo” Dee and Victoria Eliza “Veil” Aquino-Dee, third daughter of the late President Corazon “Cory” Cojuangco Aquino.
The presidential nephew being an active youth leader and a role model of the Filipino youth will lead the participants in reciting the “Panunumpa ng Aking Henerasyon” and the signing of the Manifesto of the Greatest Filipino Youth Generation on the second day which will fall on the death anniversary celebration of his grandfather, Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino.
The Sangguniang Kabataan Provincial Federation of Bohol through the Office of Board Member Doxson T. Asoy plays host to the national kick-off event of this year’s LeadCon spearheaded by Kabayanihan Foundation, Inc. in coordination with the National Youth Commission.
The primary goal of the LeadCon series is to gather all SK Chairman, SK Councilors, students and youth to create an army of volunteers and change makers, who shall be willing to help the present administration in implementing its reform agenda, especially the national government’s programs for the youth.
Our call is for the youth to rise up to the challenge and become “the greatest generation of Filipino youth”, Atty. Alex Lacson, Chairman Emeritus and Founder of Kabayanihan Foundation said in an interview.
The LeadCon intends to be a venue for much learning for the youth to share best practices and initiatives from various groups such as Institute for Solidarity in Asia, Kaya Natin Movement, Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines, and the Ayala Young Leaders’ Congress (AYLC) championing good governance, responsible citizenship and volunteerism. LeadCon intends to provide effective mechanisms, best practices, follow-through mentoring and convergence strategies to support the local Sangguniang Kabataan.
NCCA Art Ambassador Boy Abunda will be the moderator of the Debate ng Kabataan, one of the highlights of the LeadCon. Other guests and celebrities includes COA commissioner Heidi Mendoza, former Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca, NYC Chairman Leon Flores III, singer and song composer Noel Cabangon, actor and Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno, actor Dingdong Dantes, vocalist Paolo Valenciano, and Rivermaya Band .The August 20-21, 2011 Bohol event will be the biggest gathering of youth in the country in time for the celebration of the UN International Year of the Youth and as we commemorate the International Youth Day, ASEAN Youth Day, Heroes Month and the death anniversaries of President Cory Aquino and Senator Ninoy Aquino every month of August.
