July 1 is City Charter Day: A Nonworking Special Holiday
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, July 30 (PIA) -- By virtue of Republic Act 8267, tomorrow, July 1 is a non-working special public holiday for the city of Tagbilaran.
The day, familiarly commemorated as the Tagbilaran City Charter Day would be the city's 45th anniversary since it obtained its charter since July 1, 1966.
This years' City Charter Day Celebration carries the theme: Tagbilaran at 45, Becoming the Family Haven of the Philippines.
The Tagbilaran city officials prepared a schedule of activities on July 1 that kicks-off with diana, ringing of bells and sirens at four in the morning. The launching of an awareness campaign dubbed as "Run for Mabaw Reef" will follow this.
The Mabaw Reef Conservation Program is a project of the City Government which is dedicated to sustain the Mabaw's marine resources and productivity.
At exactly 8 a.m., there will be a Holy Mass at the City Hall to be celebrated by Msgr. Jeffrey Malanog, the Parish Priest of St. Joseph The Worker.
Among the major activities during the day includes the declaration of hotelier Hans Schoof as Distinguished Son of Tagbilaran City.
The launching of Tagbilaran City Strategy Map for 2020 will follow this.
There will also be a launching of Social Pension for indigent Senior Citizens.
A dance competition on ballroom dancing and kuradang, as well as a contest on Jukebox King and Queen is scheduled in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, another holiday for Bohol is on the offing.
July 22, Friday is Bohol Day, and is another special non-working holiday by virtue of Republic Act 7683. (PIA-Bohol/ecb)
